After our official decision to work as a pair, we proceeded to discuss our very vague initial ideas. Esha and I agreed that considering various ideas and narrowing them down as we go would probably be the best approach to create a project that’s well thought out.
In keeping with that idea, I had already created a collaborative Spotify playlist that Esha and I could contribute to and treat as our personal blackhole of potential song options.
Realising that we’ll probably act/be featured in our own music video (which, needless to say, has absolutely nothing to do with our sheer lack of friends), we quickly came to the conclusion that choosing a song by a male artist wouldn’t be the best idea if we wanted to centre our star image and the identity of the artist on being a woman.
Within milliseconds, the epiphany that we probably won’t be making a music video for a Joji song dawned on us in all its tragic glory, but we persevered.
Anyway, this realisation ruled out approximately 8 of the songs in our playlist. At this point, we could practically hear the A Level Music Video deities praying on our downfall and laughing at our suffering, but, soon after, Esha came through with a song option that we both immediately took a liking to: Muddy Waters by LP.
