In a shocking case of narcissism, I am pleased to inform you that I have been cast in my own project. (Nristopher Cholan's new blockbuster, "Cast-ception," coming to theatres near you in another dimension.) This post recounts everything that led up to this decision.
Since our project features a song by a woman and is rooted in social issues pertaining to women, it would only make sense to cast a woman as the protagonist of our music video and the placeholder for our hypothetical artist.
To ensure we didn’t experience the same casting-related ordeals we faced while making our foundation portfolio (i.e. having too many characters in our script and struggling to find suitable actors for them), Esha and I thought it would be best to stick to the least number of cast members possible—and our music video concept reflects just that.
Needless to say, the people most readily available to us as potential cast members were our own selves (I hope we have more actor friends in some parallel dimension to make our lives easier), but since Esha would be handling most of the camerawork, it was decided that I would play the central role in the music video.
I have short hair and generally do not look like the pinnacle of femininity, which I thought might also allow us to play with and challenge conventional representations of femininity by featuring an androgynous-looking woman in our music video.
For reference, these are the only two semi-good pictures I have of myself from my 17 years on Earth:
And that’s how we got our real-life Mrs. Midas.
