Murder on the Introduction Express

An introduction that follows a 'how to introduce yourself :/' Google search is certainly not the most auspicious beginning for a blog, but let's pretend for a moment that it's a dark and stormy night, and we are immune to clichés—along with incredibly mediocre attempts at writing about ourselves.

Hello! I'm Tashfa—a newborn A-level student (if you will), Studio Ghibli enthusiast, and part-time aspiring writer who is currently studying History, English Literature, Psychology and Media Studies. In other words, dark academia aficionados want me (or so I hope) and desi people who shudder at the mere thought of their children pursuing arts and humanities shake their head with disapproval at the mention of my existence.

Most of my free time is spent pretending my life is a profound coming-of-age film, making overly specific spotify playlists, re-reading my favourite books while avoiding my unread ones, and marvelling at our ability to immortalise ourselves within stories.

Speaking of which, Carlos Fuentes says, "One wants to tell a story, like Scheherezade, in order not to die. It’s one of the oldest urges in mankind. It’s a way of stalling death." And as trite as it may seem, this primal need to see people and have them see you back through various forms of art, be it writing or music or film, is very important to me, and I'm hoping that all work I do for my Media Studies class will be representative of it.

(Whether I killed it or not is... Questionable. But this is the part where you feign awe at my (prosaic) introduction skills and explore this blog: an amalgamation of chaos and attempts at cinephilia.)
